Saiko Fields ("we") runs saikofields.com and the Saiko LA iPhone app. This page explains what information we handle when you use them. Questions go to support@saikofields.com.

No accounts

You do not need an account to use Saiko LA. We do not ask for your name, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Searches

When you search, on the website or in the app, the text you type is sent to our server so we can find matching places. To understand the search, our server sends that text to OpenAI, which returns a numeric representation used for matching. We do not attach your searches to a name or an account.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist on saikofields.com, we store the email address you enter, with a note that it came from our website. We use it only to contact you about early access. It is stored with our database provider, Supabase. To be removed, email support@saikofields.com.

Saved places on the website

Places you save on saikofields.com are kept in your browser, on your device. They are not sent to us, and clearing your browser's data for this site removes them.

Error reports

If something breaks, we use Sentry to record the error so we can fix it. An error report can include the web address that was requested (for a search, that includes the search text) and basic information about your browser or device.

Hosting

Our website and server are hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes your IP address to deliver pages and may keep short-lived request logs, which include the web address requested.

Your location

The iPhone app uses your location only when you turn on Near me, and only if you allow it. Each search made with Near me on sends your location, rounded to about 11 meters, to our server with the search, so we can find places within a short walk or drive. We use it for that search and do not save it. Because it is part of the web address requested, it can appear in an error report or in our host's short-lived request logs, described above. The app does not follow your location in the background, and the website does not ask for your location.

The iPhone app

Places you save in the app, and lists you make from them, are kept on your phone. They are not stored on our server. When you search within your saved places, the app sends the search with the list of those places so we can find matches among them. We do not save that list, though an error report for that search can include it. The app does not save your searches. It has no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not show ads. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Children

Saiko LA is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
